Google Drive lets you create files such as text documents, slide presentations, spreadsheets, survey forms, or drawings, and then share them with other people.  When sharing files, you can choose to let other people view and download the file or help create the file.  Building a file together in Google Drive occurs in real time. Two people from remote locations can simultaneously add to a Google document and each will see the other person’s contributions as they type.

Google Drive has most of the same features as Microsoft Office programs such as adding comments and formatting.  Google Drive is a great tool for project work.  Students working in groups can build a file collaboratively, and then share the file with their instructor for feedback.

Google Drive is accessible through your UNCA email account.  Log into your account and click on the Drive link in the black toolbar at the top of the window. To start a new file, click the Create button, and then select the type of file you wish to create. Click the Share button to share the file with others.

Because Google Drive is on the Internet, you can access your account from any Internet-enabled device.  A more convenient way to access your files is to download the Google Drive app.  This will add a Google Drive folder to your computer’s user directory (PC) or finder window (MAC), which allows you to manage files in this folder as if they were located on your computer. Having the Google Drive folder in your user directory makes it easy to upload files from this folder as email attachments or Moodle assignments without having to first log into Google email.
