ON EXHIBIT: May 17th – May 31st, 2017
Currently in the Library’s Blowers Gallery are works from May 2017 UNCA Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate Courtney McDaniel. The works are part of Courtney’s recent BFA Exhibition, Within Quiet: An Exploration of the Introvert Interior.
The exhibition aims to visually express the innate differences between introversion and extroversion, while simultaneously revealing the contrast in how the two temperaments communicate. There is a focused exploration of the introverted temperament and general quietness. The lines, gashes, and thick applications of texture reveal the internal emphaticism of introversion; which is often masked with a quiet demeanor. These paintings work to reveal that an expression of a quiet persona is not equitable to a silent interior.
