Although we certainly don’t suggest you only use Google for your research, Google Scholar is a great way to search a large variety of scholarly books and articles all at once. Even better, if you search Google Scholar from the library’s homepage, your search will tap into UNCA’s full-text journal and eBook subscriptions, giving you access to tens of thousands of eBooks and millions of scholarly articles. Here is where you can search Google Scholar on the library’s homepage:

Also, while not recommended for locating sources to base your research on, regular Google can be wonderful for finding keywords to create new searches with, unearthing new concepts and ideas on your topic, discovering new points of view, and exploring popular news coverage of studies.

For in-depth research though, the library’s databases can’t be beat. Our databases give you complete and fine-tuned control over your search, making it easy to tease out the best results for searches reliably. Not sure which database to start with? Try out our list of popular databases here; ProQuest Central is especially good for getting started. You can also search for databases by subject or resource type from this page.
